No. 8 Kentucky (22-12) vs. No. 1 Connecticut (28-3) 2:30 pm EST
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Marcus Williams and the Connecticut Huskies saw their NCAA Tournament come to a premature end last season.
The top-seeded Huskies hope history does not repeat itself Sunday when they meet eighth-seeded Kentucky in the second round of the NCAA Tournament's Washington, D.C. Region.
A No. 2 seed last year, UConn dropped a 65-62 decision to 10th-seeded North Carolina State in the second round.
Williams scored 22 points in that contest, but the Huskies suffered a loss in the first or second round for the first time under coach Jim Calhoun.
UConn was in danger of becoming the first No. 1 seed to ever lose in the first round before Williams came to the rescue in a 72-59 triumph over 16th-seeded Albany on Friday.
Williams scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and senior Denham Brown added 17 for the Huskies, who overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half by ending the contest on a 34-9 run.
UConn hopes to have an easier time Sunday against a Kentucky squad which posted a 69-64 first-round victory over No. 9 UAB on Friday.
Bobby Perry scored a career-high 25 points for the Wildcats, who shot just 31 percent (19-of-61)
