Two marquee schools, two experienced coaches, two hot teams - only one will move on.

The fans at Joel Coliseum get Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans against Roy Williams' North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament's East Region.

Oddsmakers currently have the Tar Heels listed as 9½-point favorites versus the Spartans, while the game's total is sitting at 135.

The No. 9 Spartans grounded the Marquette Golden Eagles 61-49 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday night. Michigan State made good on the 2-point spread at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the final score fell well UNDER the posted total of 127.

Marquis Gray shot a solid 4-for-5 from the field and had 12 points for the Spartans, while Raymar Morgan added 14 and Drew Neitzel had 12 points in the win.

The top-seeded Tar Heels whipped the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 86-65 in the first-round of the East Regional NCAA Tournament Thursday night. North Carolina failed to cover the huge 27.5-point spread at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the final score made it OVER the posted total of 141.

Tyler Hansbrough was a solid 9-for-11 from the field, scoring a game-high 21 points in the victory.
