In their two regular-season meetings, a tenacious Texas defense left the Oklahoma players feeling a little claustrophobic.

"They just get up in you and don't give you very much room," freshman forward Blake Griffin said. "When we got it in the post, somebody from up high or across would come and double-team you constantly, and we never got single coverage down low."
The Sooners shot 33 percent (18-of-54) in a 64-54 loss to the Longhorns in Norman on Feb. 6 and 26 percent (14-of-53) in a 62-45 setback in Austin on Feb. 23.

Texas has won five straight meetings in the series, all by double-digit margins.

Oklahoma gets another shot at the No. 6 Longhorns (27-5) in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament on Saturday. The Sooners have not been to the championship game since capturing three consecutive titles from 2001-03.

First, they will have to solve a Texas defense that ranked first in the league in three-point defense, second in field-goal percentage defense and third in scoring defense during Big 12 competition.

"They play hard and their guards really get up there and pressure," Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel said. "They have several different big guys who they can throw at you and keep bringing bodies."

OKLAHOMA 54, COLORADO 49: Tony Crocker scored 12 points and made two late free throws to lead the Sooners to a hard-fought victory over the 12th-seeded Buffaloes in the Big 12 quarterfinals Friday in Kansas City.

Oklahoma (22-10) won its fourth straight game despite shooting 33 percent (19-of-58) from the field and 26 percent (6-of-23) from three-point range.

Leading scorer and rebounder Blake Griffin was limited to four points in 15 minutes but pulled down nine rebounds as the Sooners finished with a 44-34 edge on the glass.

Colorado (12-20) controlled the pace and held Oklahoma to 16 points below its season average. Richard Roby had a game-high 18 points and became the school's career leader with 2,001 points.

The Buffaloes hit only 6-of-25 three-pointers but made things interesting with a three-ball by Dwight Thorne with 30 seconds left.

That trimmed the Sooners' lead to 51-49, but two free throws by Crocker and 1-of-2 by Austin Johnson ended Colorado's season.
