WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Ray Emery and the Ottawa Senators hope to end their road trip on a winning note Sunday when they visit rookie sensation Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
The NHL's highest-scoring club, the Senators have won three of the first four contests on their five-game trip.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored the first of three Ottawa goals in the first period as the Senators posted a 3-1 triumph over the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday.
Emery made made 16 saves for Ottawa, which has won five of six since returning from its Olympic break.
Emery has done a tremendous job filling in for starting netminder Dominik Hasek, who is nursing an injured groin. A fourth-round pick in 2001, Emery has posted a .924 save percentage and a 2.17 goals-against average in six starts since the Olympic break.
He hopes to continue his solid play Sunday against a Capitals team which has collected at least one point in each of the first three games of a five-game homestand.
Washington hopes to bounce back from a 4-3 shootout loss to New Jersey on Friday.
Dainius Zubrus, Matt Pettinger and defenseman Bryan Muir tallied for the Capitals, but Ovechkin was held without a point, ending his seven-game points streak.
