Calgary (36-19-7) at Colorado (36-23-6) 3:00 pm EST
DENVER (Ticker) -- Peter Budaj and the Colorado Avalanche hope to play a game of leapfrog Sunday when they host the Calgary Flames.
Looking to move into first place in the Northwest Division, the Avalanche take on the Flames in the front end of a home-and-home series.
Colorado, which has won two straight, trails Calgary by one point. The latest victory came Thursday - a 2-1 triumph over Chicago behind 26 saves by Budaj.
The rookie goaltender has increased pressure on him following Wednesday's trade of starting netminder David Aebischer to Montreal. The Avalanche did receive Jose Theodore in the swap but the former Hart Trophy winner is sidelined with a heel injury.
Pierre Turgeon and Antti Laaksonen took care of the offense in the victory over the Blackhawks as the Avalanche won for the seventh time in 10 games.
Calgary is coming off Thursday's 1-0 win over Dallas as Miikka Kiprusoff made 39 saves for his league-leading eighth shutout. Daymond Langkow netted the lone tally for the Flames, who have killed off 37 straight penalties over their last six games.
The Flames, who have won six of eight overall, have split four meetings with the Avalanche this season.
