The seventh-ranked Buckeyes get one last chance to impress the decision makers Sunday when they hook up with No. 20 Iowa in the Big Ten Conference championship game.
The regular-season conference champions, Ohio State enters having won 11 of its last 12 games since a 67-62 defeat to Iowa on January 28. The Buckeyes topped Penn State on Friday before sneaking by Indiana, 52-51, on Saturday.
J.J. Sullinger collected 19 points and 13 rebounds and Big Ten Player of the Year Terence Dials added 13 points as Ohio State moved within one victory of its second Big Ten tournament title and first since 2002.
That championship came with a win over Iowa and the Buckeyes would like to duplicate the feat Sunday, as well as gain a measure of revenge for two straight losses to the Hawkeyes.
Iowa has won four straight games on the heels of its defense, which finished the regular season ranked first in the Big Ten. Its last four opponents have averaged 46.8 points and are shooting a combined 30 percent from the field.
Jeff Horner scored 14 points and Greg Brunner added 12 as the Hawkeyes advanced to the championship game Saturday with an ugly 53-48 win over Michigan State. The Hawkeyes shot only 36 percent from the floor, but held the Spartans to 28 percent.
