Is it normal not to be able to do skull crushers even with the bar? I have to use 15lbs dumbbells!, I can do quite a bit of wieght with all my other muscle groups since I was in Football at one time but I can't do shit with my triceps, am I don't them wrong or something? I even strain on 15lbs. What I do is hold my hands straight up in the air like I just did a bench then I curve my forearms to the sides of my head untill they touch the bench and then I lift them back up to bench position, but my shoulders never come off the bench. My weight is in a hammer curl position instead of a bar hold position, should I put them in a bar hold position?

My second question is whenever I lift I am never sore that day, nor the next. My soreness always comes on the 2nd day then on the 3rd day its agony and then on the 4th day the pain is gone. Is this normal? I thought my soreness was supposed to come on the day after lifting. On a side note, when I don't take glutamine my soreness can be there up to 6 days but it still comes on the 2nd day instead of the day after lifting.

For skull crushers i use a straight bar and hold it like i would a normal bar. Have you ever injured your elbows/triceps. An injury can cause weakness in a joint. This exercise puts great emphasis and the tendons of the tricep. How strong are you on pushdowns??

As for the soreness...usually a person gets sore 12hrs after a workout and this lasts for a couple of days...usually the 2nd day is the worst but it varies from person to person. Do not train a sore muscle. Your body is telling u that muscle is under repair/growing.

I can do dips with a 45lbs plate on me plus I weigh 170lbs, I thought this excersize was for triceps? If then it must be my tendons messing me up from doing skullcrushers. I don't know what pushdowns are but if they are related to pushups then I can't do them worth shit.

I don't know about my soreness anymore, no matter how much I lift or how many times I don't get sore much anymore. I may have a little discomfort but never sore.

Thanks for the reply

I've noticed that if I am doing skull crushers first in my workout for Tri's...if I don't do at least 2 warmup sets, my elbows hurt like hell. Anyone else have that problem? Any suggestions what to do to help out the elbow pain?

Ah, I use to do pushdowns alot - it was always my weakest lift and it was messing me up from doing lat pulls and chin ups. I guess I just have weak tri's then

If your tris were that weak I think you wouldn't be able to do dips with that much weight. U would probably suck at chest exercises and shoulder exercise since those involve triceps. I think u should get an experienced trainer to show u how to do things properly. Maybe your form is bad and makes it difficult for u. If this doesn't help, maybe you should go get it checked out from a specialist to see if you got anything wrong with your triceps. Good luck.
