While it’s excelled at home, Missouri hasn’t figured out how to win away from there in the Big 12 this season.
If recent history is an indication, those road woes aren’t likely to end against rival Kansas.
Having appeared to find their groove again, the second-ranked Jayhawks will try to claim their 12th straight home win against the No. 14 Tigers on Monday night.
Missouri (18-5, 4-4) dropped to 0-4 on the road in conference following back-to-back defeats to Texas and Oklahoma State, but improved to 14-0 at home with Saturday night’s 89-73 win over Colorado.

Coming off the bench for only the second time in 2010-11, Kim English scored a season-high 21 points while making six of 10 shots. English, the Tigers’ leading scorer last season (14.0 ppg), was averaging 10.3 points on 37.4 percent shooting before that game.
“It’s kind of easy to have energy at home. You know, one big play will get the crowd roaring,” English said. “We have to take that same mentality on the road. We can do it; we just have to do it consistently.”
Getting a similar performance might not prove easy against Kansas, which has won four straight since its 69-game home win streak was snapped. The Jayhawks (22-1, 7-1) have claimed their past three victories by an average of 22.0 points while shooting 55.9 percent.
They made 55.6 percent of their attempts in Saturday’s 86-66 rout at Nebraska, and Brady Morningstar was 5 of 7 from 3-point range while scoring a season-high 19 points.
Kansas might need Morningstar’s help again with Josh Selby possibly out for a second straight game with a stress reaction on his right foot. The freshman guard is averaging 12.0 points and shooting 43.5 percent from 3-point range.
Coach Bill Self said that team doctors didn’t believe Selby would sit out more than a few days.
“If he were to roll his ankle, it could become a stress-type fracture. We didn’t want to chance it,” Self said.
With or without Selby, Self’s team will try to record its ninth win in 10 games against the Tigers. Since a 62-60 loss at Missouri on Feb. 9, 2009, Kansas has won the past three by an average of 21.7 points.
Jayhawks leading scorer Marcus Morris (16.7 ppg) had 17 points and nine rebounds in last season’s matchup at Allen Fieldhouse, an 84-65 win. Kansas has won by an average of 15.9 points during its 11 straight home wins over Missouri and by 21.0 in the past three.
In those three defeats, the Tigers have been outshot 50.5-36.4 percent and outrebounded by an average margin of 50.0-28.3.
English missed 10 of 13 shots while coming off the bench in last season’s game in Lawrence, and the Tigers finished with their worst performance in 10 seasons (27.9 percent).
“They’re a good team. We’re excited to play them,” English said. “Streaks don’t matter too much. We don’t got into any game expecting to lose. They put their shoes on just like us.”
Kansas leads the all-time series 169-94 and has won 87 of 118 at home.
