(14) Missouri (17-4) at Oklahoma State (14-7)

Missouri’s struggles on the road have led to its uneven start to Big 12 play.

The 14th-ranked Tigers would seem to have a chance to end those woes Wednesday night when they travel to face struggling Oklahoma State. The Cowboys, however, have proved tough to beat on their home floor over the past two seasons.

Missouri (17-4, 3-3) is winless in three conference road games, and its 71-58 defeat at then-No. 7 Texas on Saturday night was also one of its most lopsided of the season. The Tigers, among the conference leaders with 83.7 points per game, had its worst scoring performance while shooting a season-low 33.9 percent.

Phil Pressey had 12 points off the bench and Kim English was the only other player in double figures with 10. Leading scorer Marcus Denmon (16.8 ppg) had a season-low seven points, but it’s on defense where Missouri has struggled more on the road.

Missouri has allowed 60.7 points and 36.4 percent shooting in its three Big 12 home games. In the three road contests, the Tigers have given up 83.7 points on 48.9 percent shooting.

Missouri has experienced a little more success at Oklahoma State, having won back-to-back games there. The Tigers have won four of five overall against the Cowboys (14-7, 2-5), and English’s 20 points led five players in double figures in last season’s 95-80 win in Columbia.

In this matchup, Missouri will face a team that’s lost a season-high three straight and five of six. Oklahoma State shot 33.8 percent against Texas Tech in Saturday’s 75-74 overtime loss, spoiling a 26-point performance from junior guard Keiton Page.

The Cowboys, though, have lost only one of those games in Stillwater - 61-46 to Texas on Jan. 26 - and are 29-2 at home since consecutive defeats to Missouri and Oklahoma in late January 2009. The other loss was also to Texas on Feb. 1, 2010.

Oklahoma State might catch a break in this game with the status of Laurence Bowers unknown. The junior forward took an elbow to the chin in the first half of Saturday’s loss, and reserve guard Matt Pressey has also been dealing with an ankle injury.

“It might have been a mild concussion,” coach Mike Anderson said of Bowers, who is averaging 11.1 points and 5.9 rebounds. “He took a big-time elbow.”

The Tigers could use a healthy lineup as they try to contain Oklahoma State’s leading scorers once again. Marshall Moses, scoring a team-best 15.5 points per game, has averaged 8.0 in three matchups with Missouri.

Page, the Cowboys’ second-leading scorer (13.7 ppg), has scored a combined 14 points in his three games against the Tigers.

Missouri leads the series 75-39 but Oklahoma State holds a 27-21 edge in Stillwater. The Tigers are trying to win three straight at Gallagher-Iba Arena for the first time since Jan. 19, 1980-Feb. 13, 1982.
