The perfect Mountaineers are a 10 ... Top 10 team, that is.

West Virginia (17-4), the only unbeaten team in Big East play, moved into the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll Top 10 for the first time this season, climbing one spot from 11th to 10th after beating Notre Dame and Cincinnati last week.

Connecticut, in the middle of a nine-game winning streak, was No. 1 for the third straight week, followed by Duke. The Huskies (20-1) received 22 first-place votes for a total of 761 points, while the Blue Devils (21-1) received eight first-place votes for 749 points.

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- For the second time in six days, top-ranked Connecticut plays a ranked foe on the road as it faces No. 11 West Virginia in a Big East Conference clash on Saturday.

The Huskies (22-2, 9-2 Big East) will likely drop out of the top spot after falling at Villanova, 69-64, on Monday. Rudy Gay collected 19 points and 10 rebounds for UConn, which had its 11-game winning streak come to an end.

Marcus Williams and Rashad Anderson added 12 points apiece for the Huskies, who are tied with the Mountaineers for second place in the conference standings - one game behind Villanova.

West Virginia (18-6, 9-2) hopes to bounce back from a surprising 71-64 loss at Seton Hall on Tuesday. Kevin Pittsnogle scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting, but the rest of the team made just 30 percent of their shots (13-of-44). Mike Gansey scored 14 points and Joe Herber added 10 for the Mountaineers, who lost for the second time in three games.

Connecticut is 11-2 all-time against West Virginia, including wins in the last five meetings. The Mountaineers' last victory in the series came on February 11, 1998.
