Buffalo (25-11-1) at Toronto (20-14-3) 7:30 pm EST
TORONTO (Ticker) -- While the Ottawa Senators are stealing the headlines in the Northeast Division, the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs quietly are rolling along.
The Sabres go for their 10th win in 11 games Thursday when they take on the Maple Leafs, who are trying to win their fourth straight. Ottawa leads the division with 53 points, but Buffalo and Toronto are right on its heels.
The Sabres are particularly dangerous right now, having lost just once since December 2. They are coming off a 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Monday as they trailed, 3-1, in the second period before scoring five straight goals to notch their fourth straight home win. A victory also would match the franchise record of 11 wins in December.
Chris Drury had a goal and two assists and Ales Kotalik, Maxim Afinogenov, Jochen Hecht, Thomas Vanek and defenseman Brian Campbell all had a goal and an assist for Buffalo, which went 4-for-8 with the man advantage.
Toronto posted its third straight win - all by one goal - with Tuesday's 3-2 overtime triumph over Pittsburgh.
Defenseman Alexander Khavanov and captain Mats Sundin scored second-period goals and blue-liner Tomas Kaberle tallied midway through overtime for the Maple Leafs, who got 33 saves from Mikael Tellqvist.
Buffalo and Toronto have met just once this season, with the Sabres skating to a 5-2 victory on November 11 behind two goals from Tim Connolly, including the game-winner 6 1/2 minutes into the third period.
