Toronto (19-14-3) at Pittsburgh (8-19-7) 7:30 pm EST
PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Rookie sensation Sidney Crosby already is carrying a great deal of burden on his 18-year-old shoulders. His latest responsibility is finding a way to get Michel Therrien his first win as coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Therrien hopes to avoid an 0-4 start as Penguins coach on Tuesday when he faces the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Since taking over for the fired Eddie Olczyk on December 15, Therrien has lost his first three games as Pittsburgh's coach. But Friday's defeat had to be the most demoralizing.
Crosby scored twice in the third period to give the Penguins a 4-3 lead vs. Philadelphia, a lead they would squander in an eventual 5-4 loss.
Erik Christensen added a goal and an assist and Ziggy Palffy chipped in a pair of assists for Pittsburgh, which has dropped 11 of 12 overall.
Toronto is coming off its third win in four games, a 2-1 triumph vs. New Jersey on Monday behind goals from defenseman Bryan McCabe and Mats Sundin. Ed Belfour made 33 saves for the Maple Leafs, who had to endure the loss of yet another player due to injury.
Already without center Eric Lindros (wrist), right wing Nik Antropov (knee) and left wing Alexander Steen (thumb), Toronto lost center Jason Allison to a fractured finger. The 30-year-old Allison is second on the team with 28 assists and 34 points.
