WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Two members of the Russian Olympic Hockey Team will oppose each other Tuesday when the Washington Capitals face the Boston Bruins.

Washington rookie sensation Alexander Ovechkin and Boston center Alexei Zhamnov were among the 20 players chosen Friday to represent Russia in the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy in February. Russia won a bronze medal in 2002 at Salt Lake City.

The 20-year-old Ovechkin leads the Capitals in scoring with 20 goals and 19 assists and is among the leading candidates for the Calder Trophy. The overall top pick in the 2004 Draft has been a rare bright spot for the struggling Capitals.

Ovechkin, who has 12 goals and 14 assists in his last 20 games, scored from a tough angle and Jeff Halpern added three assists to lead Washington in Friday's 4-2 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens.

In addition to his bronze medal four years ago, Zhamnov also won a gold with the Unified Team in 1992 at Albertville, France and took silver in 1998 at Nagano, Japan. He has five goals and 12 assists in 17 games against the Capitals.

Sergei Samsonov scored his team-leading 14th goal for Boston, which lost for the fifth time in seven contests with Thursday's 2-1 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Boston was 2-1-1 against Washington in 2003-2004.
