BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - The Buffalo Sabres look to continue their charge up the Northeast Division and post their ninth victory in 10 games Monday when they host the New York Islanders.

After having its seven-game winning streak and nine-game road run halted Thursday in Florida, Buffalo bounced back one day later with a 4-1 triumph against Tampa Bay.

Defenseman Henrik Tallinder had a goal and an assist and Ryan Miller made 30 saves for the Sabres, who have not lost consecutive games since a four-game slide from November 2-9 and are just two points behind the division-leading Ottawa Senators. The Senators host the New York Rangers on Monday.

Chris Drury, rookie Thomas Vanek and Ales Kotalik also tallied for Buffalo, which killed all seven of its penalties.

The Islanders were unable to recover from an early three-goal deficit in Friday's 4-2 setback to the Senators. Rick DiPietro yielded three goals in the first 7:50 but went on to stop 17-of-18 shots over the final two periods to keep it close.

Jason Blake and Mark Parrish each scored for New York, which has alternated wins and losses in its last eight games.

Buffalo has won all three matchups with New York this season after the Islanders swept the series in 2003-04.
