The Seattle Seahawks are not used to having an extra week off when it comes to the playoffs.

But the Seahawks can clinch a first-round playoff bye if they extend their franchise-best winning streak to 10 games Sunday when they face the Tennessee Titans. The only time the Seahawks enjoyed a playoff bye came in 1988 when they won the AFC West. However, their first postseason contest came at Cincinnati in the divisional round.

Since the playoff format has changed, the Seahawks now are assured of at least one home playoff game. They can do even better and secure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs for the first time in club history with a victory and a loss by Chicago, which faces Atlanta.

The Seahawks are rolling toward the playoffs, winning their last two games by a combined score of 83-3.

Last Sunday, Matt Hasselbeck completed 21-of-25 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-3 victory over San Francisco.

Shaun Alexander rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Niners. He leads the league with 1,496 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns, four scores shy of tying Priest Holmes' single-season record set in 2003.

After facing Tennessee, Seattle hosts unbeaten Indianapolis next week in what may be a preview of Super Bowl XL.

The rebuilding Titans already have been eliminated from playoff contention heading into their final home game.

This contest also could be the final home game for quarterback Steve McNair, who spent his entire 11-year career with the Titans after being drafted third overall in 1995.
