The Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Rams have combined for 10 playoff appearances since 1999.

However, the Eagles and Rams already have been eliminated from postseason contention heading into Sunday's meeting.

After making the Super Bowl last season for the first time since 1980, the Eagles have been ravaged by injuries and discord caused by the Terrell Owens saga.

Philadelphia, which is in last place in the NFC East, is out of the playoffs for the first time since going 5-11 in 1999 - Andy Reid's first season as coach.

The Rams also have been hit hard by injuries. Even coach Mike Martz (bacterial infection of the heart) is sidelined as the Rams will miss the playoffs for the first time since going 7-9 in 2002.

After a 4-2 start, the Eagles have dropped six of their last seven games, including last week's 26-23 overtime defeat to the New York Giants.

Seeing extended playing time in place of Brian Westbrook, who is out for the rest of the season with a foot injury, rookie Ryan Moats carried 11 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns against New York. The third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech had TD runs of 40 and 18 yards, respectively, in the first half.

The Eagles had trouble protecting Mike McMahon, who was sacked six times.

St. Louis has dropped four of its last five games, including a 27-13 defeat at Minnesota last week.

Making his second start, rookie Ryan Fitzpatrick went 26-of-45 for 235 yards but was intercepted five times. The seventh-round pick from Harvard has been playing because of injuries to Marc Bulger (shoulder) and Jamie Martin (concussion).

Matchup to watch: Rams wide receiver Torry Holt
