12/18 NFL: NY Jets @ Miami

Rookie coach Nick Saban has to be delighted with the progress of the Miami Dolphins. Herman Edwards would just like to escape without injuries for just one week.

The AFC East rivals meet for the second time this season on Sunday. The Jets posted a 17-7 victory over the Dolphins on September 18.

However, a week later, starting quarterback Chad Pennington and backup Jay Fiedler suffered season-ending shoulder injuries. That started a flurry of injuries for the Jets, who lost perennial Pro Bowl center Kevin Mawae, tackle Jason Fabini, wide receiver Wayne Chrebet, tight end Chris Baker and outside linebacker Eric Barton to injuries in the ensuing weeks.

Curtis Martin was the latest to fall, succumbing to soreness in his right knee before last week's 26-10 win over Oakland. The NFL's fourth all-time leading rusher with 14,101 yards, Martin rushed for just 735 yards and five touchdowns this season.

While injuries spoiled the season for New York, Saban has helped turn around the Dolphins, who are hoping to double their win total from last season, when they finished 4-12.

Last week, the Dolphins extended their winning streak to three games with a 23-21 victory at San Diego, which had won five straight.

Chris Chambers has been a force to be reckoned with. After setting franchise records with 15 catches for 238 yards in a 24-23 win over Buffalo, Chambers had eight receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns at San Diego.

Three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law, who recorded his sixth interception of the season in the win over Oakland, will likely match up against Chambers.

The Jets rank 28th against the run and must contend with Miami's tandem of rookie Ronnie Brown and veteran Ricky Williams. The second overall pick in the draft, Brown has rushed for 841 yards this season.
