The NBA's top scorer versus the league's worst defensive team.
Monday could be a third straight big night for Dwyane Wade as the Miami Heat continue their five-game western swing against the slumping Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.
Wade, the league's leading scorer at 28.2 points per game, scored a team-high 26 points and tied a season high with 11 assists against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. However, he missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Heat (8-9) fell 97-96.
That effort followed a season-best 43-point performance in a win over Phoenix the previous night. Wade, shooting a career-best 49.7 percent from the field in 2008-09, hit 32.4 percent and averaged 17.5 points in the two previous games - losses to Houston and Portland.
In his three previous visits to Oakland, Wade is averaging 29.0 points and 10.0 assists.
Miami also hopes for a repeat performance from rookie forward Michael Beasley, who bounced back from a scoreless, 0-for-5 effort against Phoenix with 24 points versus Los Angeles. Beasley shot 10-of-16 and 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Beasley started Miami's first 15 games but came off the bench for the second consecutive contest.
"He was obviously very efficient offensively," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He had the hot hand from the outside, but he was also able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim."
That's been the case for nearly all of Golden State's opponents this season.
The Warriors dropped their sixth straight Saturday, 138-125 to New York. Golden State allowed its highest point total since a 140-129 loss to Denver on Nov. 24, 2006.
"They had 82 points at half, so that's a lot," said former Knick Jamal Crawford, who had 21 points and 10 rebounds. "Some teams don't get that in a game. We had to do a better job defensively and work on our schemes a little bit more."
Crawford is averaging 15.8 points in four games since being acquired from New York on Nov. 21.
Golden State (5-12) is averaging 104.6 points, third in the NBA, but giving up a league-high 109.1 per game. During their five-game eastern trip - their first 0-5 road trip since 2003-04 - the Warriors allowed an average of 116.4 points.
The Warriors have given up fewer than 100 points just three times this season, although they lost two of them.
Forward Corey Maggette had a team-high 32 points and 12 rebounds against the Knicks. Maggette, who joined Golden State as a free agent during the offseason, has averaged 23.0 points in his last two games versus Miami.
Stephen Jackson, the Warriors' leading scorer at 21.4 points per game, is questionable for Monday after missing Saturday's contest with a sprained left wrist.
Prior to its 120-113 loss Dec. 7, Miami had won its previous three games at Golden State.
