GAME: Dallas Stars (7-5-1) at Colorado Avalanche (7-4-1).

TIME: Saturday, 9 p.m. EST.

Colorado's Pierre Turgeon will have a chance to reach a coveted milestone against one of his former teams when the Avalanche host the Dallas Stars.

Turgeon needs one goal to become the 34th player in league history with 500. His next tally will tie him with Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald for 33rd place on the all-time list.

Turgeon was the top overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 draft and recorded a career-best 58 goals and 74 assists in 1992-93 with the New York Islanders.

He also played with the Montreal Canadiens and St. Louis Blues before signing as a free agent with Dallas in 2001.

In three seasons with the Stars, Turgeon totaled 42 goals, including seven game-winners, and 87 assists. He signed with Colorado as a free agent after the lockout ended to replace Peter Forsberg, who signed with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Colorado extended its winning streak to four games with a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Thursday. Antti Laaksonen scored twice and Alex Tanguay recorded a point in his 10th straight game.

Tanguay has three goals and nine assists during his points streak.

Dallas is 0-2-3 in its last five games in Denver, but is coming off a record-setting night. The Stars scored four first-period goals en route to a 9-1 rout of the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

Niko Kapanen had a goal and three assists, and Jason Arnott had two goals and one assist for the Stars, whose nine goals matched their most in a home game since moving to Dallas from Minnesota after the 1992-93 season.

Despite the offensive flurry, Mike Modano - the Stars' all-time leader in games played, goals, assists and points - failed to get on the scoresheet, ending a four-game streak.

Modano has 21 goals and 27 assists in 48 career games against the Colorado franchise.
