So much for the Rams and 49ers contending for the NFC title in 2007. The 1-9 Rams visit the 2-7 49ers this week in NFC West action, where the Rams will be looking to make it two straight after an eight-game losing skid to open the season. The 49ers have covered five straight against the Rams, who upset the Saints on the road last week.

Oddsmakers currently have the Rams listed as 3-point favorites versus the 49ers, while the game's total is sitting at 39½.

The Rams defeated New Orleans 37-29 as a 10.5-point underdog to earn their first win of the season in Week 10. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (47).

Marc Bulger passed for 302 yard with two touchdowns, while Steven Jackson rushed for 76 yards with a touchdown on 22 carries and also threw a touchdown pass in the win.

The 49ers were shut out 24-0 by the Seahawks last time out, as 9.5-point underdogs. The final score fell UNDER the posted total of 37.

Frank Gore ran for 72 yards from 13 carries for the 49ers, who dropped to 2-7 with the loss.

The 49ers are horrible throwing the football regardless of whether Alex Smith or Trent Dilfer is at quarterback (it's Dilfer this week), but the Niners should be able to run well against a soft Rams defensive front and Marc Bulger won't have as much success throwing the ball this week as he had last week against a horrible Saints' pass defense. My math model favors San Francisco by 1/2 a point and the Niners apply to a couple of decent statistical match-up indicators. The Rams are also 6-16-1 ATS as a favorite of 3 points or more the last 4 seasons with Marc Bulger at quarterback
