SPOKANE, Washington (Ticker) -- Gonzaga will not be sneaking up on anyone this season.

The seventh-ranked Bulldogs open the most anticipated season in school history when they host Idaho on Friday.

Gonzaga, which is tied with Washington with the nation's longest home winning streak at 25, enters the 2005-06 season with its highest all-time preseason ranking. The Bulldogs have been ranked three times to start a campaign, debuting at No. 12 in 2003-04.

With four starters returning from last season's 26-5 team that was upset by Texas Tech in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Gonzaga is primed for a run at a sixth straight West Coast Conference title under coach Mark Few.

However, one of those starters, guard Erroll Knight, had a knee scope last week and is not expected to be in uniform Friday. Knight was the WCC Defender of the Year last season.

If the Bulldogs are in a shootout without their defensive stopper, it's a safe bet junior forward Adam Morrison will lead the way.

The school's inaugural Preseason All-American candidate, Morrison led the team with a 19.0 scoring average in 2004-05 and is 59 points shy of becoming the 28th player in Gonzaga history to reach 1,000 for his career.

The Vandals return just one starter from an 8-22 squad, senior guard Tanoris Shepard, who averaged 12.1 points and led the club with 96 assists last season. Transfers Keoni Watson and Igor Vrzina are expected to immediately contribute.

Idaho owns a 67-60 lead in a series that started in the 1909-10 season, but Gonzaga has won the last five meetings.
