Red Wings welcome Blues to Hockeytown

The Detroit Red Wings open the season on home ice Wednesday, welcoming their Central Division rivals the St. Louis Blues to the Motor City.

The Red Wings managed to re-sign young gunners Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg after lengthy negotiations this summer, and all-star defenceman Niklas Lidstrom is also back in the fold.

In St. Louis, the Blues will look to power forward Keith Tkachuk to lead the offense, and captain Doug Weight may also be in the lineup after suffering a preseason shoulder injury. Goalie Patrick Lalime, formerly of the Ottawa Senators, will make his Blues' debut against the Wings.

Oddsmakers like the Red Wings in this one, opening the line at 290 in favor of Detroit.
