MacTavish, Quenneville face off in Oilers/Avalanche game

The newest battle in the annual war between the Avalanche and Oilers kicks off Tuesday at the Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche play into revenge Tuesday, after handing Edmonton a 7-1 defeat in their last meeting back on October 21, 2005.

The goal judges could be busy in this one, as oddsmakers opened OVER/UNDER betting at 6.5. On the side, the line opened at 175 for the Avalanche. Colorado is 3-4-1, while the Oilers are 3-5-1.

The Oilers come off a 7-1 loss against the Avalanche, a game where they were 115 favorites. The game went over the closing total of 6.

Joel Quenneville's team was busy last game losing to Vancouver 6-4 as 180 underdogs. The 10 goals sent that game over the total of 7.

Expect the league's #3 offence to pot some goals and generate trouble for the Oilers defence. Averaging 4.3 goals per game, the Avalanche can run up the score if they get on a roll.

Some trends to consider:
Edmonton is 1-6-1 OU in its last 8 away
Edmonton is 1-6-0 SU in its last 7 games after scoring 1 to 2 goals
Edmonton is 2-4-1 OU in its last 7 games
