10/22 MLB Houston @ Chicago *world series game one*
White Sox, Astros get set for World Series
One team hasn't won in a very long time. The other hasn't won EVER. It's the 2005 World Series, which pits the long-sufffering Chicago White Sox against the Fall-Classic-rookie Houston Astros.
Game 1 goes Saturday night in Chicago, thanks to the American League's win at the All-Star game which gives the White Sox homefield advantage in the seven-game set.
The Astros are coming off an NLCS win over the St. Louis Cardinals, which saw them blow Game 5 before coming back and winning convincingly behind the pitching of Roy Oswalt in Game 6.
The White Sox, meanwhile, easily dispatched the Los Angeles Angels in the ALCS, thanks to a starting rotation that pitched four complete games in their five-game series win.
Roger Clemens (13-8) will get the start for Houston in Game 1, and he'll be up against Chicago's Jose Contreras (15-7). Chicago opened as a -134 hoome favorite, with oddsmakers setting the opening total at 7 runs.
Game 2 of the series goes on Sunday in Chicago, with Games 3, 4, and 5 all down in Houston on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will be back in Chicago next weekend.
