ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Martin Brodeur looks to continue his climb towards the top of the NHL's all-time goaltending wins list when the surging New Jersey Devils visit the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
The defending two-time Vezina Trophy winner, Brodeur recorded his 423rd career win Sunday as the Devils posted their sixth straight victory with a 3-2 shootout triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Brodeur made 29 saves in the contest and increased his save percentage to .944 in the month of January. With a win Tuesday, he will pass Hall of Famer Tony Esposito for sole possession of fifth place on the all-time list.
Brian Gionta scored his team-leading 26th goal, defenseman Colin White netted the game-tying tally to force overtime and Viktor Kozlov scored the game-winner in the shootout for the Devils, who have yielded just eight goals over their six-game run.
New Jersey figures to be a heavy favorite against a St. Louis squad which has tallied a total of just seven times during its current six-game skid.
Rookie goaltender Curtis Sanford made 33 saves Sunday, but the Blues failed to muster much offense in their 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Mike Sillinger scored his team-leading 15th goal for St. Louis, which enters the contest with a league-low 25 points this season.
