The New Orleans Hornets likely wouldn’t mind a few more home games, while the New York Knicks are probably looking forward to the end of their miserable road trip.

Heading to New Orleans Arena on Monday, however, would only seem to deepen the Knicks’ road woes.

The Hornets (22-11) have won three straight at home and are 9-1 in their last 10 at New Orleans Arena. New York, meanwhile, has dropped three straight on its four-game road trip and is 3-12 in its last 15 away from home.

The Knicks (13-22) are also 1-12 when scoring fewer than 100 points this season, and will face one of the league’s top defensive teams in New Orleans, which has held opponents to 92.2 points per game and 89.3 at home.

Only the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento have reached the century mark at New Orleans this season, resulting in two of the Hornets’ four losses in a 12-4 home record.

New Orleans is also one of the league’s best teams at closing out opponents with a 19-1 record when leading after three quarters, while New York is 0-18 when trailing entering the final period.

If that wasn’t enough, the Hornets have won seven straight over the Knicks dating back to Jan. 11, 2005.

New Orleans star point guard Chris Paul, the NBA’s assists leader with 11.3 per game, averaged 30.0 points and 11.5 assists in last season’s two victories over New York. That included a 33-point, 15-assist performance in a 118-110 home win on April 4.

Peja Stojakovic has averaged 22.0 points in 16 meetings with New York, scoring at least 20 points in eight of his last nine games versus the Knicks.

New Orleans received another strong performance at home from Rasual Butler in its previous game, a 107-80 victory Friday over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Butler scored a season-high 27 points and set another season best with six 3-pointers. Butler has averaged 19.5 points in his past four home games.

“Sual’s definitely a lot more focused,” Paul said. “You always see him in the gym shooting. He understands he’s a huge key to this team in order for us to win and even get back to the playoffs.”

The Knicks had their worst offensive output of the season on Saturday in a 96-76 loss at Houston, their 10th loss in 12 games.

“We did not get great shots,” said New York coach Mike D’Antoni, whose team shot 35.4 percent. “Our ball movement wasn’t good at all. It sapped our fire and then they got energy.”

That performance comes off close losses at Dallas, 99-94 on Friday, and Oklahoma City, 107-99 on Tuesday.

One of the few bright spots Saturday was David Lee’s eighth consecutive double-double with a 14-point, 11-rebound performance. Lee, who leads the Knicks with 11.2 rebounds per game, has averaged 15.6 points and 13.1 boards during his streak.

Al Harrington, who has averaged a team-leading 21.3 points since coming over in a Nov. 21 trade with Golden State, is the only New York player to face New Orleans this season. He scored 13 points in the Warriors’ season-opening loss on Oct. 29, and has averaged 18.6 points in the last five meetings with the Hornets.
