Spa has become synonymous with Michael Schumacher in recent years. The German made his debut there in 1991 for Jordan and took his maiden F1 triumph there with Benetton a year later.

* Schumacher holds the record number of Belgian Grand Prix wins with six. The previous record holder was Ayrton Senna with five.

* Despite winning the Belgian GP six times, Michael Schumacher has only started the race from pole position once.

* Among the other current drivers, David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen have won one Belgian GP apiece. Coulthard was victorious for McLaren in 1999 and Raikkonen achieved a rare defeat of Schumacher last year. The German had the consolation of clinching his record-extending seventh world championship.
