OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Behind the outstanding play of Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley, the Ottawa Senators have been one of the league's elite teams this season.
The Senators look for their fifth win in six outings Thursday when they host the Montreal Canadiens in their sixth encounter of the campaign.
With 30 goals and 37 assists, Alfredsson is third in the league with 67 points - one behind Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk and five in back of Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers. Heatley is fourth with 66 points.
Alfredsson reached the 30-goal plateau for the third time in his career as Ottawa posted a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, completing a sweep of a home-and-away series.
The victory raised the Senators' mark to 15-3-2 against division rivals and left them two points behind Carolina for the league's best record.
Jan Bulis scored four goals Wednesday for Montreal, which ended a seven-game road losing streak with a 5-3 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Becoming the first Canadiens player with a four-goal game since Brian Savage on January 8, 1998, Bulis has seven tallies and eight assists in his last 11 contests.
Ottawa is 3-1-1 against Montreal this season and is 12-2-1 in its last 15 home games.
