The Next Chapter

I actually had no intention of starting another log.

After everything that had happened, I stepped away from logging and started backing off my training. There was just a lot going on outside of the gym that was taking up more and more of my headspace.

Since my accident, there had been the ongoing process of dealing with solicitors, medical appointments, IMEs, assessments, treatment and all the uncertainty around the claim, work and what the future was going to look like.

Eventually, I needed some space from all of it.

So I backed my training off. I stopped meal prepping. I stopped counting and tracking my meals. I wasn't trying to give everything up — in my head, I was just cruising for a while. Taking the pressure off and letting myself live a little without having to worry about numbers, training and everything else.

But looking back now, maybe I wasn't just cruising.

Maybe I was slowly drowning.

I didn't really recognise how much I'd changed while I was in it. It was gradual. I just knew I wasn't doing the things that had previously been such a big part of my life.

After discussing it with my psychologist, we talked about getting back into training and having something positive to focus on. They had noticed a change in me since I'd backed away from training, and we came to the conclusion that getting some structure and routine back into my life could be a genuinely positive step.

And I think that's when I realised just how important training actually is to me.

For me, training has never been just about building muscle or lifting heavier weights.

It gives me a few hours where I can switch off from everything else.

For those few hours, I don't have to think about what's going on in the background. I can put all of that aside and focus purely on me.

The weight I'm lifting.
The movement I'm performing.
My technique.
My breathing.
The next rep.
The next set.

For a few hours, everything else disappears.

And I think I'd underestimated just how much I needed that until I stepped away from it.

I'd genuinely had no intention of starting another log. I thought that part of my life was finished for now.

Then a few good lads actually approached me and asked if I'd be interested in logging for Onyx, as they had an opening for another logger, so the timing was pretty spot on.

I hadn't gone looking for it. It just happened.

I had a look at Onyx, spoke to the guys, and liked what I saw. They're a smaller lab, they're focused on quality and regularly test their products, and they're working on building themselves within the Australian community.

I've also seen the vibe from some of the other guys on the team, and that matters to me. I want to be part of something I enjoy being around.

This time, though, I want to keep things a little simpler. I want less focus on documenting absolutely everything and more focus on actually training, progressing and enjoying the process.

And I don't see this as a one-way thing.

Hopefully, while I help Onyx grow their presence in Australia and represent them properly, they can also help me with my own personal and physical growth.

That's a partnership.

I've always believed that things happen for a reason — good or bad.

I wasn't looking for this opportunity. It just happened to come along at a time when I needed something positive to focus on.

Onyx needed someone.

I needed something to focus on and put my energy into — something positive for me.

And somehow, those two things lined up at exactly the right time.

Maybe that's just coincidence. Maybe it's something more.

Either way, I'm going to make the most of it.

The Next Chapter

This isn't a comeback.

I'm not trying to go back to where I was or pretend the last chapter didn't happen. That period of my life happened for a reason, and stepping away was something I needed at the time.

This is simply the next chapter.

The goal is to get back into training, rebuild some structure, enjoy the process and see what I can achieve when I put my focus back into something that genuinely makes me feel good.

There will be good sessions and bad sessions. Strong days and average days. Days where everything clicks and days where simply turning up is the win.

The logs will record what actually happened. The weekly reviews will look at the trends, and the monthly reviews will give us the bigger picture.

Hopefully, when I look back on this one day, it won't just show how much bigger or stronger I became.

It'll show that after a pretty fucking difficult chapter, I found something positive to focus on again.

I didn't go looking for this opportunity.

It found me at a time when I needed it.

It's just the next chapter.

After this week's check in with coach @Gains Man we have decided to cut down to 95kg over ~4 weeks the reverse out into a growth phase. As mentioned in the into i have been effectively cruising for a fairly long time after the previous bulk.

Training is a modification of J3U X-Frame program, first week or so is more about getting back into the groove before pushing weight.

Chest Focused Push
Pull A
Quads Focused Legs
Shoulder Focused Push
Pull B
Hamstring Focused Legs

Checkin weight 97.9kg
Cals set to 2200 for first week as i havnt been tracking for a long time to see what the scale does with adjustments as required.

PEDs:
250mg Test E - Onyx
200mg Mast E - Onyx
Split over 3 pins for the week M/W/F
0.3mL/0.3mL/0.4mL
5/6iu GH

Attached are some pics from original starting point rocking the perfect 👌🏼 Dad bod to end of first cut, then up to peak of first bulk of 112kg and back down to current weight of 97.9kg which was basically the same weight I was at the end of the initial cut.

Welcome Back Brother!!!

So glad to see the fire is starting to burn again for all things training and realising how important these constants are when everything else feels like it’s at a loss

This will be a log to keep a close eye on, proud to be part of The Next Chapter

@Onyx Labs x @Wookie1

💪🏼

Good stuff brother!
It takes a real man to open up and post something like this and you should be super proud of yourself!
None of us are perfect and we all have our struggles bro!
I myself suffered a life changing injury and lost my way physically and mentally while on Workcover for 4 years.
If you ever need a chat please sing out bro ♥️

Welcome to the team sir!
Thank you brother 🙏

Welcome to the family brother 🤌💪
Thanks bro
Following along brother

You cannot fail with gains man!

Just to add a little bit for nutrition.
Anyone thats followed for a bit knows what my meal prep is like. I have a big variety and manage my adherence to target on the fly or live by adding as i go. Coach gives me the numbers and I do the rest. For this short period of getting my shit back together I asked coach to give me a plan just for some more accountability. I havmt been tracking anything for a bit so we went with 2200 and the below plan and will dial in as we progress over next few weeks/kgs. Cooked weight

Meal 1:
4 egg omelette with veg
2 pieces of toast

Meal 2:
50 grams rice bubbles
30 grams wpi
100 grams banana
100 grams berries

Meal 3:
150 grams chicken breast
125 grams rice
100 grams mixed veg

Meal 4:
150 grams extra lean beef mince
200 grams potato

Meal 5:
150 grams chicken breast
125 grams rice
100 grams mixed veg

Some solid meal prep right there. Those dividing containers are a great idea!
Cheers bro. They are good, i am wanting to move to a metal or glass container long term
Without getting to weird just rhe microplastic topic. At the minimum I dont heat in the containers anymore and honestly that might be more than enough anyways.

I think that’s the easiest way to make a change when it comes to the micros plastic thing.
That would be a lot of glass containers if you went down that route

Yeah, like with everything it comes down to whats feasible, what has a bigger impact. Somethings are near impossible to eliminate so whats the next best thing to do. All about balance

Day 1: Getting Back Into the Groove
Date: Monday, 12 October 2026
Morning Weight: 97.8kg
Starting Weight: 97.9 kg
Current Goal: 95 kg

Training: Shoulder-Focused Push
Today's session was about getting familiar with the new setup, finding my working weights and getting back into a consistent training groove.

Workout:
Cable Lateral Raise
• 12.5 kg × 12
• 12.5 kg × 12
• 12.5 kg × 12
Machine Shoulder Press
• 50 kg × 10
• 50 kg × 10
• 50 kg × 10
Close-Grip Barbell Bench Press
• 60 kg × 10
• 60 kg × 10
• 60 kg × 10
Single-Arm Cable Reverse Fly
• 6.25 kg × 12
• 6.25 kg × 12
Cable Fly
• 17.5 kg × 15
• 22.5 kg × 15
Overhead Cable Triceps Extension
• 11.25 kg × 15
• 13.75 kg × 15
• 16.25 kg × 15
Cable Crunch
• 36.25 kg × 12
• 41.25 kg × 12
• 48.75 kg × 15

Current Approach:
This first week is a feeler week. I'm not chasing PBs or pushing to failure. Its about finding correct loading after the break, getting the technique consistent, amd establishing a baseline I can build on.
I'm also keeping an eye on recovery while in a calorie deficit. The goal is to preserve muscle and performance while bringing body weight down.

Next step: Continue finding the corrwct loading, track recovery, and use the coming weeks to get back into the groove, loose the weight and be ready for a growth phase mentally and physically.

It’s absolutely bananas that this is you after not training and not following a meal plan 🤣

Weekly Check-in

Not to much to add as its only been a relatively short time.
As mentioned in the intro @Gains Man wants to get us down to 95kg before going into another growth phase. For those that are unaware Gains and I have been working together for a bit over a year now and I think after going through a bulk and a cut he will have a really good understanding of how my body reacts/responds. One thing we laugh about is the massive fluctuations in weight i can get on a daily basis. For example last weeks check in 97.9kg then 2 days later 96.2kg then its jumped up to mid 98s and now its 97.1kg. Hes used to it now, can understand , not be concerned and applys a more visual approach to the changes. That is something that takes time, time in the game and time with a client.
Training has been really good both physically and mentally, who would have thought 🤣
The structure and a goal to aim for seems to be exactly what i needed, fuck I feel so much better. Obviously still have moments but thats life. Overall very, very happy
