    BW overhead squat

ummm i think i just googled it and found some article on ironmind. its quite simple tho if you have a flat surface to work with, i just screwed 4 layers of plywood (2 sheets per layer, each layer in a different direction) to the concrete base i made (my floor wasnt flat). Then put a final piece...

    BW overhead squat

prepre - yeah your right its kind of a cross between the two but i catch it above parralel so ill count it as an overhead squat, usually i would jerk it 1st if i was doing strict ohs's but i was just trying to get a pb, lol, for drop snatch i would just drop straight into the hole. u418936 - i...

    BW overhead squat

managed a bodyweight deep overhead squat for the 1st time, thought id post it, was pleased as it shows a decent recovery after a shoulder op a few months ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1gGKZGU9S4

    power clean form.......

its not bad but i wouldnt say its perfect, her footwork is poor but she gets away with it cus the weight is so light. She also doesnt get much out of the 2nd pull, it the same speed all the way up, it should accelerate as the hips come through. The lack of hip drive is shown by the bar path...

    power clean form.......

hard to say without a vid but probably either your shoulders arent over the bar to start with or your not keeping them there long enough, just be patient with the 1st pull, maintain the position for as long as possible and dont start the 2nd pull to soon

+22lb Progress, 3.5 months (with pics)

good work!! just one question, how come your bent over row is so much more advanced than the other lifts? was your back more developed to start with due to a previous hobby? its even more than your squat!

    BowFlex and MASS

you dont need a spot with a power rack, just set the saftey bar things to just below the lowest point of the squat, press or whatever your doing, if you get stuck it ll catch it.

Weight-lifters have average higher vertical jumps than NBA players

we do them occasionally, just for fun really, its pretty cool seeing your box jumps improve without ever actually training them. Olympic lifting is basically weighted jumping after all so its not suprising to see it have that effect check out this british lifter...

    Ok -- revised workout....

you are very wrong, rippetoe is a strength coach not a bodybuilding coach, his program will give you the basic functional full body strength you need as the foundation for whatever you want to do after that. Whether it makes you huge or leans you out depends on your food intake.

Can you guys please critique my workout?

drop the upright rows if you ve had a shoulder op, and add some external rotating to the internal stuff to keep your rotators in balance.

What happens if your gym is shut and your on the 3x5 or 5x5?

if its just one or two days then take the days off or do some active recovery (swimming, jogging etc), a couple of days off wont harm your progress they may even refresh you.

    I did it...

well done! Looks like you ve sorted the arm bending problem, do you thing doing the hang cleans from below the knee rather than above helped that issue?

squat flexibility - how to improve it?

Ive taught a few people to squat (men and women) and i have found that if they dont pick up the movement easily teaching the squat from the bottom up (like rippetoe) seems to work well. if they already know what the bottom position feels like then they seem to be able to slip into it more...

    Breathing Squats

haha yes i mean between each set the author of super squats, cant remember his name, mentions using the technique for sldl's as well but just 3 sets of 10 or 12 for bench, rows etc (if hypertrophy is the primary goal)

    Breathing Squats

O lifters at our club use the breathing squats technique when wanting to go up a weight class - slightly different tho we do 6 sets of 10 (with the weight for a hard set of 5) and do pullovers between each rep. Its not fun! but it does seem to be effective!
