I wanted to be a pro bodybuilder from 14 years old. The reason was my mother bought me a Flex magazine in 1985 and it was filled with pics if Rich Gaspari. I grew up in NJ ten minutes away from Edison NJ where Gaspari lived. Over the years I met him in several times at a local Golds gym, Diamond Gym,Dynamic Fitness and Rob Cappadano's Golds gym in Milltown, NJ.
Although, a very young fan he was nothing but nice to me and the last time I met him he actually looked at my physique and encouraged me to start entering national level contests which I did. After the Jr UsA, Jr Natio6 and the USA i finally turned pro by winning the Middleweight class at the mens NPC Nationals. That was my last competition. There was no 225 and under class then I and I wasnt about to embarrass myself. Fir 12 years I trained competitors for NPC national contest and also became a judge in the NPC just to stay involved. I had been also attending law school for the final three years so I chose that as a career.
Now, I'm 54 and first competed in 1990 at 18. I have more bobybuildung tmrksted information in my brain it's almost unbelievable. After 35+ years if you don't there is something very wrong.
I love bodybuilding. It instilled in me a resolve I could have never gotten elsewhere . I joined here because why waste 35 + years of knowledge. I'm sure there are younger guys that need or want to be started in the correct direction.
