Bank of America, can I help you?

Customer: Yes, I want to cancel my account. I don't want to do business with you any longer.

The Bank: Why?

Customer: You're giving credit to illegal immigrants and I don't think it's right. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

The Bank: Well, Mr. Customer, we don't want to see you do that, but we can't stop you. I'll help you close the account. What is your account number?

Customer: (gives account number)

The Bank: For security purposes and for your protection, can you please give me the last four digits of your social security number?

Customer: No?

The Bank: Mr. Customer, I need to verify your information, but in order to help you, I'll need verification of who you are..

Customer: Why should I give you my social security number? The reason I'm closing my account is that your bank is issuing credit cards to illegal immigrants who don't have social security numbers. You are targeting that audience and want their business. Let's say I'm an illegal immigrant and you've given me a credit card. I have a question about it and call for assistance. You wouldn't be asking me for a Social Security number, would you?

The Bank: No sir, I wouldn't.

Customer: Why not?

The Bank: Because you would have pressed '2' to speak in Spanish. We don't ask for that information when calling in on the Spanish line.

If this raises the hair on the back of your neck, then forward it to every human in the country including every representative in Washington , DC four times a week for a month.

Provided "snopes" for doubters:
snopes.com: Bank of America Credit Cards for Illegals

So I can get a credit card there? someone wake up Glad and tell him too, if they take no SSN they might take no credit xD

It's all how these banks make money in our system. We're so far passed the "underlying assets" gap that it's not even worth bringing up because we've been operating this way for decades. These banks hand this shit out knowing full well these immigrants are not going to pay up even half of what they run up. Now why is that? Cause banks create money this way.

first of all, the extension of credit from american based banks or lending institutions to foreign nationals has been long practiced.

Not Having a social doesn't mean you're an illegal immigrant. you can be on a student visa or some type of other visa, or just in general a foreign national. Should we not give a mortgage to someone in europe buying a condo here, even though he can pay for it (and has documentation) just because he doesn't have a social? That's the fuckin stupidest thing i have ever heard. "lets limit our lending to only people who were born or granted citizenship in our country"...that wouldn't shut down any globalization possibilities lol

most of the time that these institutions extend credit anyways, they're still pulling a credit report and using some type of risk management/assessment in place. you can still have credit without a social..and that's why alternate credit has always been accounted for in certain instances. just because the 3 bureaus don't report it doesn't mean it's not part indicative of your ability to pay back borrowed funds

as far as the last 4 of your social? They'd be asking for something relevant to them...other info that could be equivalent. To assume what a bank customer rep said under pressure from a hostile customer was actually intended policy is a stretch.

Why do people care what PRIVATE institutions do to make money?
if they were weren't making money, then that wouldn't happen.

read the article again. it's written in a completely biased way. "snopes".com isn't exactly a glaring source of credibility.

yes they extended credit to people without socials...but what the article automatically assumes (without even bringing up) is that not having a social = illegal immigrant. which is not true.

like i said, banks have been doing this for housing for years and they use higher rates to offset the risk. just a lame attempt to stir up controversy amongst the illegal immigrant debate going on

Which is why I laugh at losers who spend THOUSANDS to "build up" their credit score. Just so they can save THOUSANDS later on (hahahaha). Meanwhile, like you said, those without any credit history or social security numbers - can still buy houses and get good deals. Banks have middle class losers so brainwashed it ain't funny. Serves them right.

no, that's not accurate. the lending guidelines are different and the interest rates are much worse for those without a credit score. that's even if they get a loan or credit card, there has to be compensating factors for them not having a credit score.

If you're being loaned hundred of thousands of dollars, they still verify alot of your foreign interests like income or assets.
If people want to be upset about government dollars going to healthcare for illegal immigrants, ok fine...valid point and i agree 100%
but for people to bitch about profitable ventures, that aren't even benefiting illegals, in a private sector is just moronic. I'm sure you'll have some idiot in response to this say "well, the banks are using bailout funds. so it is helping illegals" ...which has nothing to do with why the current or previous economic situation occured in the first place. Illegals aren't handed out mortgages like pez, and i guarantee you any credit extended to a foreign national with no social probably has like a $200 limit with a 20% interest rate

anyone who thinks these banks are stupid or don't recognize all these things are morons. the only reason banks get in trouble is GREED. Greed will override a lot of things
