vacation, East Coast, clear/grean waters ?

Looking for a vacation spot in August. Heading out of Nc, 4 people. We go to Nagshead allot and Myrtle. Looking to go somewhere new.

Been to Florida a bunch but normally the panhandle out of the Gulf.

Wanted to get everyones thoughts or tips on where we could go. Looking for nice beaches and some clear/green water to get that caribbean feel.

Right now we are looking at Siesta Key and Miami, though Miami is a hike and there are some turn offs... we like a good atmosphere, we're 30...but that may be a little wild for us, and the flaunting of money isnt really a plus.

Any ideas?

We would hit the keys but kind of far ... We will be driving, so any thoughts ?

Anything not so far away? Ft Lauderdale for one in the group is a 14 hr ride.


What about Hilton Head ... whats that like?

Fuerteventura is pure win if you'd consider somewhere abroad. Nicest beaches in Europe, lots of interesting tours available, north African sun tempered by the Trade Winds, rains approx. only 5 days a year.

My husband liked Key West and loved the snorkeling down there, but that was a few years ago (like, uh, 13 ...)

Both would be great, I think nice beaches would be first though, we can always find a party, or a dive bar.
