ATLANTA (AP) -- Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time, according to two people familiar with his case.

The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison, according to two people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plea deal had not been finalized yet Thursday morning.

His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, they said. His talks to youth groups are supposed to be about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

HOW THE FUCK IS A 7 TIME FELON ON PROBATION GUNNA TRY AND BUY A DOZEN MACHINE GUNS WITH SILENCERS FROM UC FEDS, THEN GET POPPED WITH A HALF DOZEN OTHER AUTOMATICS THAT WHERE CONFISCATED FROM HIS CRIB AND ONLY GET 12 MONTHS?????

Mike Vick gets 2 years for dogfighting, not one previous thing on his record. Prodigy get's knocked by NYPD while driving with a pistol on probation, receives 3.5 years.. Now a 7 time felon gets a slim 12 months and community service for tryna re-creatre World War III in Atlanta. Nice

Well, there's going to be a huge drought in the streets of ATL and crack houses getting hit up, cus TIP just dropped a dime on at least 20 people

Why the fuck do thee fuckers fuck up their fucking lives. They all have promising careers making millions and a chance to pull a JayZ and get the fuck out of the ghetto and be well of for lizife. Fo rizeal I dont get it. If I could ever get my raps on the radio I would never buy guns, hookers, or 2%milk. all that does is get you in trouble.

FUCKERS!!!

who the fuck is T.I.?

i guess asking that q is why he probably could only afford a shitty lawyer. Not every "rapper" is automatically worth millions.

that's gotta suck. ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED HOURS of work - and then you still go to fuck me in the ass prison. I'd rather go to fucking iraq.

oh yeah, even more great hip hop new, Max B just got shot up twice last night and the underground NYC rapper CAVLAR was murdered two days ago

ummmm his lawyer obviously wasn't that shitty because that plea deal is amazingly good for him

He was looking at 30 years... Most people in his situation would of received at least 10+ years. He's going to do less than 12 months (due to good behavior)

you mean he has a LOAN for a million.

No one makes millions until 5 years into their career. It doesn't work like that. Esp in the music biz.

Good deal: For a person with supposed money? And a NON-VIOLENT crime??

I've seen rich people get away with way WAY more. Hell OJ got away with a double MURDER! The Bonets did some hanky panky, and prevented even an indictment! Nick Hogan fucked up a marine for life while street-racing, and is free as a bird. Paris Hilton did 21 days. Her ghetto black poor counterpart is probably still in jail. On and on.

lol. if you don't know who the fuck he is, how do you know he isn't at least 5 years deep into his career? he isn't a nobody, despite the fact that you haven't heard of him.

Nope don't know him, but also don't listen to rap anymore....

That is a lot of hours of community service to then have 12 months over his head. They should choose one or the other and give him supervised probation. It's not like he was gonna go on a killing spree, maybe he was just gonna go hunting with his gangsta buddies. LMAO

T.I. has had 4 platinum albums since '03. He's been around for longer than that though. but please don't let that interfere with your rant

yeah he's gotta be shaking his head
basically the same situation as TI, previous felony, gun charge, except he got 3.5 yrs.
remy ma was found guilty yesterday of shooting her friend in the gut
facing 5-25

Ive been waiting for a country singer to get popped with big drug charges, or federal weapons violations.

T.I. isn't doing too bad...at least when he's not in jail. When he gets out his next album will take off like a rocket based on his increased "street cred".

word amongst hiphop kids is that he cut a deal with the DA
i could believe that...a felon caught with illegal weapons and silencers.
he was facing 20 yrs but ended up with one year?
sounds like a deal to me...not like i blame him, i'd do the same thing
but snitching-kills street cred

I'm not sure it will hurt him unless he rolled on somebody else. If he just said I'll plead just to avoid a long trial he'll probably be alright. Besides, it's not like he's really going to be in general population anyway. They know there will be too many people looking to make a name for themselves by messing with him...same with John Gotti.

and by deal i mean snitching not plea bargaining
a few months ago the prosecutor offered a 10 yr plea and TI turned it down.
how come now the prosecutor offered a 1 yr deal?
though he did get 1500 hours of community service, holy fuck that's a lotta 40 hr weeks!
from what i understand from my atlanta friends, ti is really popular and everyone loves him in georgia

now maybe he doesn't have bill gates coins, but he's pretty well off.
wouldn't you agree that 4 plat albums=some major dollars?

No, and especially not rappers. His first major record label deal likely was unilateral (take it or leave it) and his royalties were minimal. Then like most rappers he probably mismanaged his money to some degree, while at the same time spending like he was a multimillionare.

oh and the other day down near Ted Turner Stadium I saw one of these knuckleheads rollin on what had to be copper coated 26" wheels.

i know that's usually true, but TI is like jay-z and 50 cent.
more business minded than the avg tool rapper.
he does more than just rap, he's got other business ventures, a comedy team, some sorta car business, etc.
don't think i'm riding the dude's nuts, i couldn't tell you one song he rapped, but he appears to be a cut above the rest

Those figures come from publicists, and we KNOW they would never fig numbers right? :)

my income last year was $550,000. Most of that is in the value of my guitars which is of course priceless!

I've had access to oracle servers and spreadsheets with actual financial numbers. I don't expect anyone posting from their bedroom to really understand.

That's okay. Life goes on. :)

lol at dropping your income. access to databases too!? omg noez!

i don't know how much TI is worth. he could be broke. but, he's had a lot of success and is well-known. the fact that you haven't heard of him is about as important as your posts.

unbelievable, you are. never mind...you wouldn't understand.

All of these guys live in the same area where I grew up; southern end of College Park down to Fayetteville. Dallas Austin went to my high school but years after me. I think Jermaine Dupree did too but just for a minute. Some of the guys I played football with are pretty big music producers now. Kriss Kross and I wanna say ABC (Another Bad Creation) was one of their first acts. Ludacris. Evander Holyfield (his house is monstrous). T.I. You can probably throw rocks between the homes of all those guys.

the income was a joke. anyone can make up numbers. Thanks for not even paying attention.

I don't have the time to 'educate' you on corporate financials and how 'signing' an artist works. Just use some common sense. If Jay-Z is making $33M PROFIT a year, how much profit is his record company making (they have to, otherwise why even work with him?) $150M? OMG, sign 10 of these guys from the ghetto - and $1B PROFIT A YEAR. Holy shit. Sign me up rappers left right and center Sally! Microsoft ain't got shit on us!

But hey, if u wanna believe in $20M a year profiting rappers a year (and ignore the concept of 'advances') - go ahead. I don't own you.

Call me whatever, i don't give a shit. Now go back to work before you get in shit by your boss.

Jay Z is the CEO of Def Jam records, he is the record company, not just a rapper, but the one who is signing the other artists. He's also a shared owner of New Jersey Nets, owns Roca Wear clothing, 40/40 club, Belvedere liquor, many others

You do understand that a rappers profit isn't coming from album sales right? It's coming off tours, ringtones, radio spins, video spins, guest appearances, producing, clothing, shoes, cologne, magazine's, jewelry, movies, commercials, beverages, endorsing other products in their music/video's, collaborations on other artists albums, etc etc... Just because you think you have the "in" of the music industry doesn't mean you know their income on their outside business ventures.

I don't have time to explain this. When you're a "Jay-Z" every investor wants to invest in ANYTHING you stamp your name on. Throwing millions at you left, right and center. Regardless if those entities make profits or not.

If Jay-Z asked you to invest in his record company - trust me - you'd mortgage your house in a heartbeat.

you make it sound like it's a bad thing

40/40 club is the most known sports bar/club in NYC
Nets have had a winning season for a decade now
Def Jam is the biggest hip hop label in the world
Roca Wear has been the leading urban clothing line for nearly 8 years now

All profiting organizations...

I fail to see your point, I thought you said Jay-Z was just another wrenched up hoodlum gettin raped by his record company?

so you are saying you made money because you own some guitars that appreciated in value?

First off, you don't claim that as income unless you actually sold them.

second, I think you are lying. Feel free to post up a tax return (i'd gladly do the same) if you want to do more than just run your mouth.
