Senate Democrats Undo 200+ Years of Fillibuster Rules

I guess they didnt think what could happen when repubs have majority in the senate in the future. You can bet your ass it will be payback time
Its like a kid throwing a tantrum when they dont get their way in a game and just change the rules on the fly.
Imagine the outrage if repubs did it? The Oppression of free speech in the senate!!!!

Oh yea, we are all united, right.

They're doing what the republicans wanted. GOP was blocking every single appointee "just cause". They wanted the dems to use the nuclear option so that it's long in place by the time they get back to power. Shrewd move on their part. They'll use it freely but can now always say "we didn't start it".

The nuclear option shouldn't have to have to have been used like this. The filibuster has it's place but not to block every single insignificant administrative appointee. The opposition should have a limited number of blocks they can use and once those are up...too bad. The filibuster should be there for the important stuff.

This isn't about "every single appointee".

Barry has been trying to stack the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in DC. It's a key choke-point in judicial activism -- where laws are basically re-written (and in some cases flat-out written) by judges.

The circuit already has eight sitting judges and six senior judges. It isn't like there are bench vacancies here that are holding-up cases.

Senate’s filibuster decision could reshape influential D.C. federal appeals court - The Washington Post

but they know full well that when one of them gets in there he'll stack the courts just like every other president before him, every single one. They wanted the dems to use this nuclear option and they pigeon holed them into doing it. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if both sides got together and agreed that it would be just better to have simple majority from now on. Could be a power move on the tea party to an extent as well. Now when republicans are back in control they have the potential to completely ignore the tea party if they have enough regular republicans to hit the simple majority. Who knows, I would just hope by now that you all realize what goes on infront of the camera up there is a well scripted broadway act. McConnel and Reid may not be drinking buddies, all though it wouldn't surprise me if they were, but they're certainly on the same page when it comes to preserving the two heads of the same coin paradigm that's run our govt now for a very long time.

Maybe the Tea Party and the Green Party have a secret coalition to eliminate taxes by burning fossil fuels using the sun's rays that are focused by magnifying glasses.
