How Will a Culture of Permanent War Impact America's Future?

We'll always need someone outside to hate.

My guess is we're moving back to the model we've always had: An aristocracy, a merchant class and a bunch of peasants.

The political class (aristocracy) will always need an external villain to blame things on and rally the masses.

I think the circa 1776 democracy experiment has been winding down for about 50-75 years now. It won't go more than another generation or two in my opinion. When our forefathers wrecked the class system, society had continuous convection. We're undoing that convection now in the name of helping the least fortunate. It's so ironic, since the people voting them in are the ones who will be locked forever into the peasant class.

Well it doesn't help that many ppl don't even know the difference between a republic which America was originally based on, to the now pure democracy where the majority, whether they are stupid or not run the show. Btw I was putting you down at all. I was simply stating that the common person does not know the difference. I think if we stuck to the constitution, things would be completely different. And not stick to it when there were slaves so don't slant my words. We have had a fascist country for quite some time... Ppl don't read anymore, let alone about history, so ppl automatically blame capitalism when it's not even that.

Unfortunately, xenophobia seems to be an evolutionary trait the political class have mastered. Religion was the first incarnation and then nationalism became the dominant tool for manipulating the masses.

Xenophobia has always been a tool, even when we were tribal.

Religion has also been abused for control, but our evolutionary relationship with religion is much more complex.

Then why comment on it? I was happy leaving it at a single sentence.

How so?

I know they fund Cato and one of them ran as the Libertarian candidate for president around the 80's but that's about it.

They also fund the Tea Party and a big chunk of the GOP (Guardians Of Privilege) ticket in any given year. They give money to the War Party, therefor they support the eternal war machine.
