Anyone ever been on an African Safari?

I've never been on safari in africa but I have been hunting and the best advice I can give you is not to get anxious and shoot the first thing that charges you because it may be the outfitters dog. That doesn't go over well.

In March 1999, safari guide Mark Ross and 14 tourists were kidnapped in Uganda by Hutu rebels. These "Interahamwe" were involved in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Tutsis in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. They forced the hostages to march for hours through impenetrable jungle, then splitting them into two groups. Marks group negotiated a safe release at the Congo border, the other group suffered a terrible fate- they were hacked to death by rebel machetes.

I've scratched off the dark nation as a place I'd like to go. :(

I saw that episode.

Kind of their fault. Who in their right mind would go through that part of Uganda? It's only been in a civil war for going on 30 years. No biggie.

Idiots.

Spent three weeks in Tsavo East/West and Amboseli national park 18 years ago. Large animals, giant insects, wild people, rampant malaria and terrible local food. Can best describe the safaris as long rather uncomfortable trips to the zoo except you're in the cage. There are better spots with more action, if you prefer to see vast open plains where the weak, young and old are hunted down and feasted upon, somewhere like Maasai Mara is better.

Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Kruger National Park, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda.....

What do you think breh?

All gorgeous , Kruger national park is great and being in south africa its the most developed country here , once you start heading north up africa things become dodgy , zambia is nice though and great access to the mighty zambezi river and namibia is pleasent . Kenya is very pretty as is tanzania , botswana is just flat haha , zimbabwe i would stay well away from with all the turmoil in the country at the moment, especially if your white and international , as they all view everyone as media there to get stories

Uganda , now thats deep africa, stunning if your a white water paddler, the white nile is an incredible high volume river to paddle.

Come to SD and visit the Safari Park. It's hot there too, so like being in Africa.

Much safer. You can drink the water. Any kind of food you want, all safe to eat. No crazy diseases or parasites that will kill you or eat your brains and make you crazy.

If the Zoo or wild animal park aren't exciting enough for you, we can take you into Mexico where you have a pretty good chance of being kidnapped, beheaded and most likely quartered before having your remains left on the side of the road.
