It can be done simply and safely. I take it as a given that the A.S. is
initially in a sterile condition. All you have to do is make sure the container
your transfering it to is also sterile.
1. Kill or get rid of the Bacteria (easier said than done).
Intially wash the new container theroughly. Then follow with rinsing the container
and the cap in alcohol. Rinse out alcohol with boiling water keeping the container either closed
or pointed down at all times.
2. At No point allow new bacteria to enter container. Bacteria is present in the dust in the air. But
for example when your in a MicroBiology class and your pouring your own agar plates, (which are by the
way made to grow bacteria, so there very easy to contaminate.) you simply hold the lid directly over the
plate while pouring the liquid. Use same technique in your new bottle. Possably try transfering with a syringe.
(a large one).
No matter how well your asceptic technique is there is still a small chance of contamination. So, If you really want to
be carefull I recommend taking a small sample a couple days before your first injection and test it by adding it to sterile
growth medium (don't forget to incubate at around body heat, Bacteria just love that temp.). If nothing grows your in good shape.
