Androstene as you call it is actually androstenedione. It is
"one step" closer to being testosterone than DHEA. If you are looking
for an increase in testosterone levels than androstenedione is the way to go.

As you can see Androstenedione is closer to testosterone than DHEA so
it will convert easier. It will however also convert to Estrone but
Estrone is a weak estrogen that should not be in a high enough amount to
cause any problems. It would be nice if you could get androstenediol but
it is a schedule III drug which makes it a little more risky to purchase than
DHEA or androstenedione.
