: : This is a bit far out there, but I was wandering through some texts and wondered... Would such preparations as Anticholinesterase agents (which are commonly used as treatment for immunologic neuromuscular disorders/myasthenia gravis) be of any use to Bodybuilders/weight trainers in reference to boosting neuromuscular strength, especially in the case of Powerlifters or anyone who would otherwise easily overtrain their neural system by heavy/repetitive lifting? My magic eight-ball says I'm barking-up the wrong tree, but I am researching compounds which would affect/help such neuromuscular strength at a level which would be effective for weight trainers. Could anyone otherwise give me pointers on where one could look?

: Well, now are those ANTI-CHOLINERGENIC (spelt wrong?) drugs? If so they keep muscle cells and other
: types of cells from over-producing saliva or mucuos secretions. If your body isn't making enough of these
: secretions, I'd assume it wouldn't grow as well. it's like being de-hydrated I think.

The drugs I was referring to are indicated for the treatment of Myasthenia Gravia, a neuromuscular disorder. Here is what the DE says about its' etology:

"Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder characterized by progressive weakness and rapid fatigability of skeletal muscle due to impaired neuromuscular transmission (ref). Muscle weakness of variable severity occurs, sometimes exacerbated by infection, stress, and loss of sleep." "...the ability of axial muscles and those in the extremeties to sustain adequate contractile power may be affected."

It then goes on to explain the physiologic mechanism by which this phenomenon takes place.

My interpretation was, this sounds a lot like overtraining of the nervous system. Same symptoms, etc. However, this is only an abstraction, I suppose - use of these drugs may or may not help 'healthy' individuals, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.
