Help, anyone know what the hell this is??

I've got here a sealed vile of something or other and I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be or do.
It says "Lidocaine Hydrochloride and Epinephrine 1:1000,000 and a huge 1% on it...
Its a 20 ml vial and I'm just curious as to what its for and what it does. I did remember the name Epinephrine from reading there and there but the rest means nothing to me.
