I know exactly what you're experiencing man.
I was doing heavy negatives on leg press this
summer and almost dropped the weight when I
felt an unbelievable pain in the back of my
head. I thought I may have ruptured a vessel
or something so I saw my doctor. He said
it was nothing to worry about and to check
my breathing during sets. Sure enough, after
noticing I wasn't exhaling enough during the
straining part of the movement, the pain went
away. I know it sounds too simple, but watch
how you breathe. You may be holding your
breath trying to force out that extra rep.
