: : : : Thanx John, what do you mean by busting your gut? severe pain? or just indigestion? Is it worth buying and trying? Thanx man!
: : : : what do you think about the c/a/e stack?
: : : : : Well, pyruvateis used in the energy cycles of the body as pyruvic acid.So the theory is that because 80% of calories burned at rest come from fat if pyruvate is ingested in larger than normal quantities that an enhancement in burning of stored b/f will take place.I have used it but only for a few days as it really busted up my gut, which is one of the side effects.

: : : : : good luck!

: : : I have been using pyruvate for as long as MedPro (ie ripoff pro) has had it available. I have seen my aerobic/endurance workouts increase substantially this year and my bodyfat/weight are much lower than they usually are at this time of the year (it's f***ing freezing here half the time...my body wants that damn fat for insulation!). The problem is that a bottle of MedPro's product is $49 for about a two week supply (you need to take at least five grams of the product). Right now Prolab has a pyruvate product out called Provate One which is pyruvate along with some thermogenics (I don't have a bottle in front of me so I can't tell you exactly what's in it). They also have a product called Provate Two which is pyruvate along with l-carnitine, HCA, Chromium, and vanadyl. This is the one I am considering using since I don't respond very well to thermogenics like the E/C/A stack (it works well but I get too damn wired). I think both of these things can be bought for around $24.00 (?) from Elite Athlete in Oregon. I can get more info if you're interested but you know, as soon as Unique/Mass Supplements has pyurvate in bulk that's the only place I'd buy it. Sorry for rambling, hope this helps.
: : BTW: I found that when I first started taking pyruvate, I had to race to the bathroom on occasion. After awhile, even at doses above five grams, I never found that I got an upset stomach. Apparently the stuff is remarkably safe at very high doses. Wait until Unique has it in bulk then you'll be able to use it at high enough doses to really see a difference without getting ripped off.
: Most of the studies involving pyruvate used mega doses
: of 20-40 grams per day- NOT the mere 5 grams per
: day suggested my the supplement marketers.

Jeff, you are right when you state that the preliminary studies used much higher doses. I've been in contact with a friend who is kind of like Unique and PA in that he knows about things that are way over my head. He works for a large amino acid manufacturer and was previously working for Integrated Health. Not that it means anything, but he does know his stuff. Anyway, he has been doing a lot of research and has found that pyruvate seems to work in doses less than the 20-30 grams that were originally administered. Granted this isn't scientific by any means but I do consider him very reliable. At any rate, for those of us who choose not to use an ECA stack, this can be a much better possibility for fat burning; not as effective for sure, but somewhat effective nonetheless. Since I am more of an endurance athlete I have found this particular supplement to be of great help to me. I have seen a difference in the level and length of my workouts and, as an added benefit, bodyfat and weight reduction. So I wouldn't rule out the possibility of this supplement for fat burning but I would not consider it on the same level as ECA. Prolab, I would consider a very reputable supplement maker and their pyruvate/thermogenic combination is unique in the industry as far as I know and, what the hell, it may be worth a try. God knows, there's been a hell of a lot of other supplements that didn't work nearly as well for me, if at all!
