I recently read an article from a Sidney, Australia newspaper that talked about how steroid usage in the US army is on the rise. According to a story, some investigator dug up some information on soldiers juicing and approached Lieutenant-Colonel Burton Shields about the matter. After it was reported to Shields, he did his own investigation and found out that several soldiers had been using steroids. My first thoughts on the matter.....who cares?
This isn't professional baseball where a bunch of stat-obsessed nerds are worried about history being violated by a few juicers. This is the army where people's lives are on the line; the bigger, faster and stronger these soldiers are, the more likely they are to survive in the field.
Obviously anti-steroid proponents would argue that steroids could cloud soldiers vision with 'roid rage,' which we all know is completely stupid. In any case though, this matter seems to be taken seriously, and further investigations are being conducted into the matter.
In my opinion, soldiers should definitely be allowed to juice just for the sheer fact that it can help them survive. However, I'm sure lawmakers see it differently.
