I realize that talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger on a bodybuilding site is about as played out as putting rims on Escalades. However, I got to thinking about Schwarzenegger today and how impressive it is that he accomplished every single goal he set out to do. Well, I don't know if he truly accomplished every single goal.....but he at least nailed down the big ones.
Growing up as a kid in Austria, Arnold already had dreams of becoming a bodybuilder. However, people thought he was crazy since bodybuilding was not an Austrian sport (perhaps similar to an American training to become a cricket player). People told Schwarzenegger to train for skiing, soccer, or cycling - not bodybuilding. And Arnold's parents wanted him to become a police officer like his dad instead of dreaming of becoming a professional athlete.
After building his body to a certain point, Schwarzenegger set three major goals: move to America, marry a Kennedy, and become a movie star. Now a lot of people have wild dreams such as this, but few ever accomplish them. And the ones who do accomplish feats like these merely luck into them as a result of being a blind workaholic.
Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, set goals and worked hard to achieve them. He didn't just wish upon a star and have things done for him; now he's the Governor of California and may have a shot at the presidency some day.
Sure there are stories of his womanizing along the way that the haters like to bring up, but who cares: the guy literally built himself into a legend. And he serves as an excellent model for goal setters everywhere.
