The world's oldest competitive female bodybuilder, Ernestine Shepherd, recently appeared on the front page of Yahoo.com to talk about her experiences with the sport, and why it's so important in regards to overall health.
What amazed me after watching this video is that Shepherd didn't event get started with bodybuilding until she was 58 years old. At the urging of her sister, Shepherd started hitting the gym and working out. Unfortunately, her sister died of a brain aneurysm, but Shepherd continued lifting weights and training competitively.
One part that made me laugh a little bit is when Shepherd said her idol is Sylvester Stallone. The 74-year-old said that she fancies herself as the female version of Rocky.
As of now, Shepherd is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the oldest competitive female bodybuilder ever. Here is the video that appeared on the front of Yahoo.
