Well now that the whole Barry Bonds fiasco is finally over, we get to see the damage that the federal government did to taxpayers' wallets. Ready for this? Your government spent over $6 million chasing after a guy who may or may not have used steroids to enhance his baseball skills (probably did use them, but who cares).
In any case, is hunting down a pro baseball steroid user really worth the same amount of money that could feed thousands of homeless people for weeks? I don't think so, and I doubt that anybody would either. Oh, and the best part of the deal is that courts only convicted Bonds of one measly charge, obstruction of justice.
All I can say is that it's great that the last remnant of the BALCO deal is finally gone. And for that, maybe it is worth $6 million.
