As many of us know, there are more than a few bogus supplements in the bodybuilding world. In fact, some of the supplements that bodybuilders use on a regular basis aren't really doing much at all because there's nothing useful in these products. Fortunately, there are people like Reggie Johal out there bashing companies that rip people off with supplements.
Johal reminds me a lot of our resident bodybuilding expert Nelson Montana because he tells it like it is. The ex-football player/current fitness expert is really angry about supplements that contain bull testicles and/or Boron because companies often drum these two ingredients up like they're the key to a better body. In reality though, neither Boron nor bull testicles have ever been proven to enhance performance in any way.
Johal explained his rant against this ingredients by saying, "Boron started to appear in supplements in the 80's and 90's, and there are still a number of products claiming that they can increase the levels of testosterone in the blood, and thus aid a harder workout. These claims are bogus. Recent scientific studies involving male weight trainers have shown that Boron has no effect whatsoever on testosterone levels."
He finished by adding, "The only situation in which a Boron supplement would be helpful is if a person had a deficiency of the mineral. Otherwise, it's a sheer waste of money."
Luckily, we don't see the bull testicles being used in bodybuilding products much anymore. However, if you see Boron being pushed in any of the supplements you use, don't fall for the tricks.
