Everyday we all grow a little older. And as most of us are aware, this means balding, fine lines and ugly fat deposits. Now if you're 19, you probably don't spend too much time worrying about this. But speaking for myself, I've been fretting these repulsive aging effects ever since I turned 25. After all, when you start losing hair, growing a turkey chin and have more lines on your face than Sean Connery - without the fame and fortune - you'll have major trouble getting or keeping a woman.
The process of aging only feels worse when you accumulate aches, pains and injuries along the way. Any serious bodybuilder is going to experience some injuries, whether they be minor or serious. And over the years, these discomforts can really start to nag a person. Long story short, getting older sucks!
Interestingly enough, though, there may be a day where people don't have to age ungracefully and painfully. That's because there's a research peptide called Epitalon (a.k.a. Epithalon, Epithalamin, Epithalone), which is proven to have some dramatic anti-aging benefits. Actually, it's a tetrapeptide because Epitalon's structure is made on four amino acid chains. I'll talk more about the scientific side later, but first, here are some benefits that researchers have reported:
- Increases lifespan
- Boosts energy levels
- Promotes deeper and more restful sleep
- Delays or prevents age-related heart disease, cancer and dementia
- Improves skin appearance
- Helps heal injured muscle cells
I don't need to tell you that these are some outstanding benefits. This being said, it's no wonder why those who are interested in anti-aging research have made such an effort to get their hands on Epitalon. Luckily, you don't have to make much of an effort to buy Epitalon for research purposes.
Assuming you're interested in buying Epitalon for your research, but would like to know more about this product, let's discuss the scientifics behind it, an important study that proved Epitalon's benefits, recommended dosage and storing this product.
It's All about Telomerase and Telomeres
According to an animal study that will be covered later, Epitalon is a peptide that regulates the cell cycle through up-regulation of telomerase activity. As some may know, telomerase is an enzyme that determines the length of telomeres in DNA strands while helping to create genetic information.
But over time, the levels of telomerase become depleted during the process of cellular division. When this happens, the telomeres become shorter and weaker with more cellular division. These weaker telomeres then have difficulty binding to DNA strands properly, leading to compromised genetic coding in DNA strands. In animal subjects that have been tested, this means information gets misread and the agingprocess inadvertently continues.
This is where Epitalon comes in since it can aid in replenishing telomerase, thus allowing for the production of the enzyme to stay at a consistent level for longer time periods. Because telomerase production grows stronger, the effects of aging slow down tremendously.
Russian Studies on Mice and the Eldery
In the early 2000s, the Russian Academy of Sciences did some extensive studies involving mice and Epitalon. One such study (Anisimov et al. 2003) involved equally dividing 108 mice up into a control group that was administered normal saline, and a group that received Epitalon for 5 consecutive days every month.
The Russian scientists discovered that the longest-living mouse in the control group died at the age of 739 days (24.3 months). Meanwhile, 12% of the mice that were administered Epitalon lived to this age and beyond. The oldest Epitalon-treated mouse lived until 830 days (27.3 months). The number of tumor-bearing mice was also lower in the Epitalon group (16) than it was in the control group (18).
The Russian Academy of Sciences performed another study that focused on seniors. The seven-year study saw one group of elderly people receive a daily injection of Epitalon on 10 days out of each month for six consecutive months. When compared to a control group that didn't receive any Epitalon, the Epitalon-treated group increased their lifespan by 30% to 50%.
Epitalon Use in the Bodybuilding/Anti-Aging Community
Although Epitalon and other peptides are supposed to be for research purposes only, many bodybuilders and anti-aging enthusiasts have experimented with this tetrapeptide. Some of these people have reported getting better sleep, healing nagging injuries, longer workouts, more sexual stamina, increased focus and better skin appearance.
Epitalon Dosage
When administering this tetrapeptide to test subjects, it's recommended that you use anywhere from 0.5mg to 3mg daily. Some test subjects have been given daily dosages up to 9mg and higher.
Storing Epitalon
While Epitalon can remain stable at room temperature for three months, it's recommended that you store it desiccated below -18°C. If reconstituted, this tetrapeptide should be stored at 4°C between 2-21 days, and at below -18°C for future use.
