I think it's awesome how some big-name bodybuilders are coming out of retirement to compete again. 38 year-old Markus Ruhl announced that he is going to compete again. And, not to be outdone, Ronnie Coleman also announced last year that he is coming out of retirement at age 46. Coleman's announcement is especially big since he is a 7-time Mr. Olympia champion.
Perhaps even more interesting than both of these bodybuilders coming out of retirement is 53 year-old Tom Platz announcing that he will be coming out of retirement. Platz started seriously thinking about coming out of retirement after he saw the latest Rocky film in 2007. Platz said, "When I saw the most recent Rocky film that came out a few years ago, and he said that line 'I think there's something still left in the basement' I could relate to it and it inspired me."
Platz had a string of great Mr. Olympia finishes from 1979 to 1986, and many considered him to have the best legs in any competition. Now I don't think Platz will be able to compete with the younger IFBB pros, but he should definitely be a force in the Masters division.
